Berries

Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden...
Genesis 2:8a (NIV)

Stepped out the front door

Today and found a surprise

Berries by the stairs

Oh! the summer memories

fingers darting through glossy

Leaves like hummingbirds

Pop one in my mouth

Toss another in the pail

Sweet cluster bubbles

I think the Garden

of Eden must have had these

Perhaps without thorns

  1. Beautiful photos. Doesn't it make you wonder about the perfection which was in the Garden? Have a blessed Sunday!

    1. Thank you - it DOES make me wonder...in awe. I imagine all of the beautiful things we see in this amazing creation around us times a thousand or so. Do you? And I imagine all the beautiful acts of kindness and forgiveness and love we witness times at least a thousand or so.... And the music, and the poetry, and the words....

Thanks for visiting - I hope your Sunday is rewarding as well!

    1. Carol - thank you for telling me what they are! My childhood memories are from picking blackberries, but I remember them being bigger and fuller (and the bushes growing a lot taller). So these are black raspberries? We just moved on Post at Ft Drum in New York and the flowers and now berries have been a pleasant surprise. Do they grow wild or do you think someone planted them? I'm glad you visited - have a blessed Sunday.

  3. HI Janet,
My berries haven't ripened yet. We are further north. But soon. I did find some small wild strawberries by our road. That was fun. And this year I planted summer strawberries and a blueberry bush. I love my new garden as well. We are both reading from Genesis.
Thanks for linking to Sunday Stillness.
    Blessings,
    Janis

    1. Hi Janis, I remember finding wild strawberries when I lived in Colorado. We also used to find wild asparagus, and look for morel mushrooms. Wow, those memories are OLD! But good. Today I'm thankful for the berries by the front step - what a nice surprise! I loved your post on Sunday - especially how you linked it to John. I'm actually reading in Kings and Chronicles right now, but l knew there would be something in Genesis for this post. It's nice how God's word always seems to take care of us... Thanks for visiting!

    1. Thanks! Maybe. Sometimes I like to think we have a little bit of Eden here. It's nice to see you here again, Summer. I hope you have a nice week.

I know we probably haven't met in person, but I believe that the sharing of our ideas and thoughts, sometimes our hearts and souls, makes us more than strangers. I would like to say friends. Thank you for taking the time to contribute to my little space - I appreciate you.
